About BRICS Business Magazine

BRICS Business Magazine is a bookazine —

a book-like magazine – addressed to global investors, businessmen, politicians, and experts.

A business and humanitarian publication on rapid-growth markets, it is issued four times a year and explains how to understand others.

The goal of this project is to organize a direct information exchange between the BRICS countries and other emerging markets.

We define a bookazine as a thick magazine with complex printing which is designed for slow reading and filled not in accordance with a constant set of sections, but rather in accordance with the topics chosen. Our bookazine includes (with occasional exceptions) three main kinds of data:

essays and columns that would fit into “Opinions” or “Recommendations” sections
indices, ratings, and rankings
business cases

Industry and event projects as well as investment guides are featured as special add-ons.

A Forum of Trendsetters

BRICS is expanding. From 2024, Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates will be full members of BRICS. The Declaration of the 15th BRICS Summit in South Africa also tasked the member states’ foreign ministers “with further developing the BRICS partner country model and the list of prospective partner countries”. BRICS+ will thus be taking shape as “Friends of BRICS”, with various forms of cooperation to be developed within its framework. One of the key areas is trade liberalization, opening up member states’ markets to their partners. There is much still to be done in this area, including at the legislative level, but the trend is evident: the economies of BRICS countries and their Friends are becoming increasingly interrelated.

Moscow – International Fashion Hub

This is the concentration point for over 106 thousand organizations working in different creative spheres, while the number of creators account for 25% of Russia’s total. The capital hosts the biggest number of educational institutions training future creative professionals – all this forming the city’s aesthetic image and drawing talented young people to the capital.

Fashion from Three Continents

Global brands often seek inspiration from African, Middle Eastern and South American fashion trends with their extraordinarily vibrant visuals. On the other hand, designers from these regions face numerous challenges in trying to go global and remain on the international market. Speakers from Senegal, the United Arab Emirates and Brazil shared their views on the prospects for competition among local brands and big fashion conglomerates, and on other issues discussed with our magazine at the BRICS+ Fashion Summit.

Fashion Industry Trends and Concerns

To step up international cooperation in the fashion industry the most important thing would be the creation/adherence of a common set of standards and parameters to enable a level playing field. At the same time, we see that the world has seemed to return to an era of mercantilism. When every country does protectionism at home everyone loses. So a new trading order is needed. How this can be realized in a multipolar world is uncertain.

Stabilizing the System

Building a Global Brand

Participants will be provided with the knowledge and skills needed to build a modern fashion brand, develop a strategy, bring it to the Russian and international markets, and promote and manage their business. This is the ambitious goal set by the organizers of the intensive fashion course ‘Globalization in the Fashion Industry. Local Concepts in Creating a Successful Global Brand’, which will be held as part of the BRICS+ Fashion Summit. Leading experts from numerous countries, including professors and deans from the best universities in BRICS+ countries, will share their knowledge and experience with the project participants.

Many participants in the BRICS+ Fashion Summit note the importance of professional contacts among fashion industry representatives. The Parking Gallery, an art space in Zaryadye Park, will host a B2B showroom during the Summit. It will be a venue for networking and presenting fashion collections. Brands may use this space to negotiate with buyers and sign delivery contracts. The showroom will display over 100 Russian and 20 foreign brands. We would like to introduce you to several of the Russian participants.

World Fashion Shorts

Fashion film was initially an advertising tool for supporting seasonal collections. Today, it is an independent video art genre that has grown into a huge industry. It has even earned itself a separate event at the BRICS+ Fashion Summit – the World Fashion Shorts Festival.

An Expanding Union

BRICS is becoming an increasingly powerful union. From 2024, it will have eleven members and there are many more countries demonstrating an interest in co-operation. This is evidenced by the BRICS+ Fashion Summit, with participants from 55 friendly states. Their populations account for over ⅔ of all people on Earth and their aggregate GDP is over 38% of the global total. The Forum will also be attended by partners and speakers from Great Britain, France, the USA, Italy and The Netherlands.
